Removing Blood Stains on Carpet
Always clean blood stains on carpet with cold water, not hot or even warm water, as that will set the stain. Soak the spot in cold water, then blot up the excess moisture. Make a paste of cornstarch and cold water, and apply it generously to the spot. Allow it to sit for a few minutes, then rinse with cold water.
The main ingredient in commercial blood stain cleaners is Hydrogen Peroxide. This is an effective cleaner for tough blood stains. Soak the stained area in Hydrogen Peroxide for a few minutes, then rinse with cold water and blot up with a clean cloth.
Stubborn blood stains can be treated with a paste of meat tenderizer crystals. Leave the paste on the stain for about an hour, then rinse with cold water.
